it is important for every writer to know what is plagiarism is?
Definition;
Plagiarism-It is an act of a
writer to copy ideas of another author
without a permission. This means using another Authors work without
giving them a credit. It is also known as copyscape.
Academic writing community demands
that should a writer use or borrow an idea from another authors work .He must
do referencing which should of Couse march with citations in the work he has
done.
Consequences of Plagiarism
It can lead to variety of
serous sanctions on the concerned party.
For instance;
(a)It can lead a student to be suspended
from the institution
(b)It can lead to complete failure
in a course a student is taking
©Also it can lead to imposition
of heavy fines to those found quity this occurs incase one violates copyrighted
protected work.
How to Avoid plagiarism
(a)Read materials broadly and
try to get the general concept behind the subject matter and writer from your
head this will create an original unique work.
(b)Citing-Borrowing another
persons idea is not illegal so long as you are following the recommended
formatting styles prescribed by the writing community.The commonly used Formatting
style include the following; HARVARD‚CHICAGO‚APA and MLA.
©A writer must not borrow a
huge portion of another writers worker even if he is citing. The worker of
writer is to writer original ideas which are meant to add value to existing work
of the other authors‚.
(d)Whenever a writer borrow
from another writer he must cite properly to avoid contradiction. Especially
when the other writers who may be in need to advance the idea he has written.
